Slovak technical museum

The exhibition titled “the History of mining in the Spiš region” consists of the exhibits of the Slovak technical museum and is displayed in the Multifunctional mining and energetic centre in Spišská Nová Ves.

The Spiš theatre

The Spiš theatre stages plays of various genres for children, youth and adults in Slovak language. The repertoire includes unique dramatic pieces performed in Spiš dialect. Manor house Smižany

The manor house was built in 18th century and it served as a salt storehouse. Later, the building housed a school of agriculture, an elementary school and a kindergarten. After its renovation and a grand re-opening ceremony in April 2011, it fulfils its role as a cultural and edifying centre, managed by the Smižany cultural centre. The bells museum

Do you know what bells are carried by sheep? And what by cows? Stará hyža – old shack

Get familiar with everyday and religious aspects of traditional rural life. Old spinning-wheels, winding-frames, early 20th century furniture, clothes, kitchenware, tools – you will see it all! The centre of Dobšiná

The restored centre of the town of Dobšiná will amaze you with the Neo-Renaissance town hall built in 1870 and the old Gothic Evangelical church from 1480 featuring original Gothic wall paintings. You can end up the tour by visiting the Baroque-Classical Roman Catholic church dated 1792. The Fraňo Kráľ memorial room

Get familiar with the life of Fraňo Kráľ - a writer and poet. He wrote his best known novel “Cesta zarúbaná“ (The Hindered Road) in the village of Vyšná Slaná during the years 1928 – 1930. Enjoy the exhibition of folk costumes, contemporary musical instruments and historical demonstration of rural life of the period. The Betliar manor house

This hunting lodge is located in the midst of a beautiful English garden. Romantic buildings are surrounded by an artificial cave and a waterfall. This manor house is simply marvellous! The Kaltenecker craft brewery in Rožňava produces interesting beer specials. Its beers continue to win great acclaim at competitions in Slovakia as well as abroad. Mining museum

Experience the incomparable atmosphere of iron ore and magnesite mining as it was at mining workplaces. You are also welcome to visit the Slovak Karst Natural History Museum. Your children will be dazed with bear, deer and wild boar exhibits. Cross-country skiing tracks – Spišská Nová Ves

All cross-country ski enthusiasts can choose from several tracks. The airstrip in Spišská Nová Ves, under fair weather conditions, offers skiing on a 2.5 km long skiing circuit as well as other activities, depending on current conditions. Entry & exit: Letecká ulica street, direction Smižany – Maša. There is a cross-country skiing trail (20.5 km) in the direction toward Muráň in the Novoveská Huta city district. Entry & exit: Novoveská Huta – Stražanská ulica street. The tracks are maintained by grooming equipment. Contact: Tourist Information Centre Spišská Nová Ves.

Cross-country skiing track – Hrabušice

Cross-country skiing tracks – Telgárt trail

The track is 14 km long and runs from the village of Telgárt to Šumiac along picturesque landscape. The track is maintained throughout the whole season (December - March) by grooming machines (snowmobile & grooming iron).

Cross-country skiing tracks – MLYNKY

In good snow conditions you can ski on 6 tracks which are regularly maintained by Kässbohrer Pisten Bully 60D grooming machine. Lengths of the tracks: Circuit around Kráľova hoľa – 10 km; tracks in the cross-country ski centre: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 km. Access points to the tracks: ski resort Biele Vody, football playfield in Mlynky. Cross-country skiing tracks – Forest sports resort GRAJNÁR

The complex is located 18 km from the city of Spišská Nová Ves in the direction of Rožňava. In good snow conditions you can ski on 5 tracks with following lengths: 3, 5, 6, 10 and 13 km. The ski resort located in the village of Dedinky is connected with the ski resort SKI MLYNKY BIELE VODY. There are 2 lifts and 2 slopes, 520 m and 600 m long.
